Short stories and verses by John Hamilton who farmed at Allanton Farm by Loudon Hill. It is a gem of its genre - full of laughs. Printed in 1991 by Walker & Connell Ltd., Hastings Square, Darvel. Author John Hamilton who was "born in 1919 at Allanton Farm, Darvel, where the family had farmed since the 1850s. Educated at the former Allanton School-house and then at Darvel School, John spent all his working life within sight of Loudoun Hill where he willed with his "auld fashioned wife" Mary in a cottage near the farm to keep an eye on things. They had two sons, and a daughter who is a secretary. John wrote prose and verse for a good many years and this, his fourth book, was published as the result of the enthusiasm of his many friends in farming circles. We understand that his "auld fashioned wife" Mary is still alive at the ripe old age of 92.
